Making Christmas Positively Festive!

From snowy window trails to festive family films, Peterborough Positive is spreading extra sparkle across the city centre this holiday season.

The city centre’s Business Improvement District is adding a variety of festive activities to delight visitors, support local businesses, and complement Peterborough City Council’s enhanced Christmas programme on Cathedral Square.

Peterborough Positive’s festive cheer begins on Saturday 15 November at 10:30am, with a showing of the first of their two Christmas films. Families can enjoy The Grinch at Odeon Luxe in Queensgate. This is a heartwarming and hilariously grumpy tale of everyone’s favourite green Christmas-stealer and his loyal dog, Max.

On Saturday 13 December at 1pm, families are invited to St John’s Church on Cathedral Square, where the festive magic continues with Arthur Christmas, the animated adventure that finally answers the question, “How does Santa deliver all those presents in one night?”. Free festive craft activities will start at 12pm, offering families some creative fun before the film starts.

Alongside these family events, Peterborough Positive is bringing its own festive lights to the city centre with the installation of two illuminated arches, providing photo opportunities and extra decoration beyond Cathedral Square.

Families can also enjoy a Snowy Window Trail, created in collaboration with local artist Riah Mae. Five city centre businesses will have their windows transformed into bespoke winter artworks, each featuring a hidden letter forming part of a festive word. Trail participants will have the chance to win a £100 city centre gift card, encouraging engagement, and movement across the city.

Pep Cipriano, Chief Operating Officer at Peterborough Positive, said:

“We’re delighted to be adding to the city’s festive offering this year, from free films and family fun to creative trails and safety support at night. It’s all about creating a welcoming, enjoyable experience for everyone visiting Peterborough city centre this Christmas.”

Peterborough Positive is also supporting the Cathedral’s Wonder of Christmas event, further enriching the city’s festive celebrations. The cathedral’s festive trail will be enhanced by additional lighting and decorations to create an even more memorable Christmas experience.
